Joe contacted me during the COVID lockdown to purchase a gift certificate for his wife Kelly’s birthday, knowing that we wouldn’t be able to actually schedule the session until restrictions eased. As soon as photography services were given the green-light to operate again, we got their session booked. Kelly knew that she wanted a “golden hour” time in a local park, but the kids also wanted to be able to include the family’s puppy and possibly cats. (Kelly wasn’t sure that Indie could behave for a full session in a park!) So, we split our time, starting with a few pictures at the front of their home and then re-grouped over at Lawson park to make the most of the gorgeous evening light. The result was a great variety of pictures.

The next step was for Joe, Kelly and I to work on selections and layouts for three places in their home where they wanted to display the photos. The more formal picture (with Indie) is being produced as a gallery wrapped canvas in a floating frame, which at 24×36” is going to look fantastic on the big wall beside their fireplace. Two other walls will be homes to a collection of four prints in colour and another six framed prints in black and white. Once again, being able to create mock-ups for them with actual pictures of the walls in their home went a long way to give Joe and Kelly confidence that they were making the right choices for their artwork.
