On Saturday evening, I took a break from my busy schedule of family photo sessions to support the Power of 10 (www.powerof10.ca) fundraising event as it’s official photographer. The primary purpose of the event is to raise money of The Lighthouse Programme for Grieving Children ((www.grievingchildrenlighthouse.org), with a secondary purpose of bringing the community together for a fun evening. This was the second iteration of the Power of 10 event, and wow has it grown! There were more than twice as many riders and definitely twice as much fun. 350 riders biked 2108km in 100 minutes and raised $73,000 !!!
Last year, I both cycled and photographed the event (and joked to some that I’m not sure I did either at 100%). This year, I was all about the photography which was such a laugh because there were terrific costumes on many of the teams and high spirits throughout. It boggles my mind that some participants rode as far as they did in the costumes they were wearing (check out Wilma Flintstone and the Cat in the Hat below!) None of this would have been possible without the leadership of event founder, Rachel Williams, the fantastic organizing committee and an army of volunteers. Congratulations team! Can’t wait until next year!
